Introduction
Manufacturing Industry is growing and modernizing at a fast pace. With the advent of globalization, there is a compulsion for industries to excel not only in updation of technologies but also in addition of better methods and usage of better materials with the overall objective of reduction of cost and consequent maximization of profits. Accordingly, both the areas of developing smart and alternative materials, which will cost less yet withstand higher stress; usage of advanced technologies namely green and lean manufacture are the need of the hour. In addition, modern techniques like Value Analysis, Value Engineering, Six Sigma, TQM etc need to be introduced and nurtured for achieving continuous improvement in quality and customer satisfaction.
